The East Lampeter Township Police Department is a community police organization that cares about its citizens and provides a wide variety of services to the 21,800 residents of East Lampeter Township and Upper Leacock Township. Under the provisions of an intergovernmental cooperative agreement to provide police services to Upper Leacock Township. The police department patrols the 38 square miles of the two townships, and in 2007, answered 14,161 calls or requests for service. The police department is organized into three divisions:
- Administrative Support
- Detective Division
- Patrol Division
Captain Steve Zerbe commands the Administrative Support Division. It is composed of Administrative Lieutenant James Ely, a School Resource Officer, and a Technology Coordinator. The division also includes four civilian staff persons who handle records and computer entry.
Lieutenant Robin Weaver commands the Detective Division which is composed of seven detectives whose job duties consist primarily of investigating serious crimes. One detective serves as a member of Lancaster County's Drug Task Force.
Lieutenant Rob Eachus commands the Patrol Division. It is composed of two platoons of six officers and two platoons of seven officers, who are supervised by a platoon sergeant.
